The Department of Artificial Intelligence with programs Data Science and Machine Learning at Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Engineering & Innovation (Autonomous) is committed to developing future-ready engineers equipped with technical excellence, ethical values, innovation, and leadership to address global challenges through intelligent technologies. The department offers a four-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) programme designed in accordance with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) framework.

Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Machine Learning have become the driving forces behind digital transformation across healthcare, finance, manufacturing, agriculture, smart cities, cybersecurity, education, and sustainable development. Our autonomous curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in computer science, mathematics, statistics, intelligent computing, and data-driven decision-making while integrating emerging technologies such as Generative AI, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Engineering, Explainable AI, and Business Intelligence.

The department emphasizes experiential learning through state-of-the-art laboratories, industry-sponsored projects, internships, hackathons, research initiatives, innovation challenges, and multidisciplinary project-based learning. Students are encouraged to participate in research publications, patent development, startup incubation, international collaborations, and community-oriented AI solutions that address real-world problems.

Aligned with NEP 2020, the programme promotes multidisciplinary education, academic flexibility, innovation, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning while nurturing ethical and socially responsible professionals. Through initiatives such as Responsible AI practices, Industry Connect Programmes, Service Learning, Brain Student Chapter, Student for Data Science Club, AI- Coding Club and the Conscious AI Club, students develop leadership qualities, emotional intelligence, professional ethics, spiritual learning and a commitment to sustainable technological development.

The curriculum is carefully mapped to NBA Graduate Attributes, enabling graduates to demonstrate engineering knowledge, problem-solving abilities, design thinking, teamwork, communication skills, ethical practices, project management, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning.
